The Illusion of Breadth as Safety

There's a moment we all know too well:

A client we love asks: "Hey, could you also do XYZ for us?"

The money's right there. It feels safe. So we say yes.

But every "yes" outside our core dilutes our Signature. And a diluted Signature means lower perceived value, wrong clients, dropping prices.

The question I now ask before every decision:

"Does this sharpen my Signature — or dilute it?"

Breadth isn't safety. Radical focus is.

The Energy Cycle

We're still operating under an old logic: Time for money. Hours for income. The more you work, the more you earn.

But that logic breaks when energy is the bottleneck. Not time. Energy.

Here's what I call the Energy Cycle:

Energy → Value → Recognition → More Energy.

When that cycle works, you're not just making money. You're building something sustainable.

But here's the hard part: Building that cycle requires saying no. A lot.

And most of us are terrible at that.

Here's a simple principle I use: The Hell Yes Principle.

Ask yourself: Is this a Hell Yes?

Not "I guess I could do this." Not "It's good money."

But: Does this make me think "Hell yes, I want to do this"?

If it's not a Hell Yes, it's a No.
